The Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) is a new interdisciplinary centre aimed at harnessing the revolution in data, digital and artificial intelligence for social benefit, promoting human flourishing and inclusive economic growth. It brings together the arts, humanities and social sciences with data science, to drive solution-focused thinking on a range of key societal challenges.
EFI will be housed in the former Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh hospital building. The motto inscribed in stone above the main entrance is: “Patet Omnibus” – and this means: “Open to All”.
