Special Issue of Organization Studies: Contemporary organizations increasingly rely on images, logos, videos, building and office design, building materials, physical product design and a range of other material and visual expressions to form identity, communicate, organize their activities, and compete.? This will include consideration of explicit decision-making processes but also of routines and taken-for-granteds. The workshop aims at developing a better understanding of how organizations manage their commitments in view of limited means.

The aim of this workshop is to offer a supportive setting for participants to receive feedback on papers at various stages of development, and to provide opportunities for meeting others interested in organizational institutionalism and the MNC research context.?
Ariane Berthoin Antal writes about EGOS 2014: Conferences are interesting places for checking out how newness is generated. The professional purpose of these events is to share new research ideas and collect feedback in the hopes of getting their value recognized in the academic community. In other words, it is about establishing the newness of our work as scholars. The interactions between participants and with our materials in this process various kinds of moves between new and old. The EGOS 2014 symposium in Rotterdam this week, specifically in the track Art, Design, and Organization (ADO) offered a fruitful platform for observing and contributing to these moves.
In its 11th edition, the annual workshop of the new institutionalism network returns to Vienna where it was first held in 2005. Hosted at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, the workshop seeks to bring together kindred spirits from different disciplines, countries, and academic systems who share an interest in pushing forward theoretical and/or empirical frontiers of institutional research.
Our workshop tackles these steps of your research project: (1) Gathering data via (un)structured interviews and analysing standardized survey data, (2) using the computer for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate the publication of empirical research in quality outlets by doctoral students and faculty members. The broad theme of the workshop is on "explaining change", with primary emphasis on research methods and connection between theory and data.

The journal publishes theoretical, empirical and experimental papers both quantitative and qualitative in various fields of management and economics, including non-profit organizations and the social economy. The geographical scope of the studies may be global, national or «mega-regional», with a special interest, but not limited to, in emerging economies and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The 10th workshop of the new institutionalism network will be held in the eternal city of Rome. Rome is not only a worldwide symbol of persistence but also a venue for change, like the one experienced in 2013 by the Roman Catholic Church, perhaps the most persistent among the institutions in Rome. Institutional views of persistence and change therefore find a perfect environment in the eternal city.
In Philadelphia, August 1-5, 2014, we would like to see PDW sessions creatively and innovatively addressing the Division's Mission of attracting, developing and serving academics and practitioners who wish to advance understanding of organizations and organizing. Possible PDWs might, for example, introduce participants to novel, under-utilized or developing theoretical perspectives, and offer insight into directions for future research.
