Call for Sub-plenary Proposals

The local Colloquium organizers are open to considering proposals for sub-plenary sessions to be held at the 37th EGOS Colloquium on “Organizing for an Inclusive Society: Meanings, Motivations, and Mechanisms” in Amsterdam in July 2021.
The Colloquium theme can be found at:
Sub-plenaries are 90-minute focused sessions in which topics relevant to the general EGOS community are discussed. They move the conversation forward, stimulate new ideas to address an important subject matter, and may spark controversy.
We ask EGOSians who have brilliant ideas for, and are interested in, organizing a sub-plenary session to submit a short proposal – as a .docx or .doc file – in which they pay attention to the following:

  • Preliminary title, short description of the topic, relevance of the theme, and intended procedure during the sub-plenary + name and contact details of the chair and a list of panellists including short biographies.

  • Description of the three most important takeaways or insights that the EGOS community will gain from your sub-plenary.

  • Successful proposals will furthermore emphasize:
How the sub-plenary ensures that it appeals to a large audience of EGOSians.
How the topic of the sub-plenary is positioned in relation to the overall Colloquium theme. (Not all sub-plenary sessions need to address the overall Colloquium theme.)
How diversity is ensured in the composition of the panel with respect to gender, geographical background, age, and other dimensions of diversity.

  • We welcome creativity in organizing formats! The typical format for sub-plenary sessions is: 3–4 presentations of some 10–20 minutes, + perhaps moderated discussion between the panellists, and discussion with audience. We cannot divert from the duration of a sub-plenary session, which is 90 minutes.

  • Please avoid proposals that are longer than 2 pages.

Proposals should be submitted to the Colloquium organizers ( before November 30, 2019. After that date, the organizing team will start working on the overall set of sub-plenary sessions and reach out to chairs.

Submitting a proposal does not guarantee acceptance; there is only limited space. The 2021 EGOS Colloquium organizing committee also reserves the right to work with the chairs of sub-plenary sessions (e.g. regarding title, focus, composition of panel) to ensure that the various sub-plenary sessions will be sufficiently distinct. Furthermore, the local Colloquium organizers cannot cover travel, accommodation, or any other costs for chairs and panellists. All chairs and panellists have to register as regular participants for the 37th EGOS Colloquium in Amsterdam.
